I’m glad you asked!  This is a common misconception – that travel agents cost more than to book on your own.  In most cases, this is simply not true!  In fact, working with a travel agent will likely save you money.  Most hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators build a commission into their public rates.  When you book direct, the company just pockets the additional cash.  When you book with an agent, you receive the same price, if not better, plus one-on-one service and personal attention that you’d never receive from their 1-800 number. The company then pays us a commission and in many cases, will give us preferential treatment on top of discounts due to the amount of volume we bring to their business.  When you book on your own, you are just a drop in the bucket.
